As the appetite for cloud-based solutions continues to grow, a number of enterprise companies are moving towards engineering hardware and software to simplify IT, making use of the cloud to allow for easy adoption. Embracing this shift towards cloud adoption, Oracle already showed a thirty percent year-on-year growth on its cloud computing services in 2015.
In light of this, and to grow on its existing Oracle capabilities, Business Connexion Group has announced its acquisition of the Relational Database Consulting Group (RDC) effective 1 April 2016. RDC Group is a market leader in database and operating system administration, with a strong focus on Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL and PostgreSQL on a variety of operating systems.
Their expanded range of services includes Oracle E-Business Suite, Oracle Fusion Middleware, Oracle Solaris Support and Oracle Sales.
Business Connexion recently also acquired ANCO-IT, a company with a strong focus on Oracle applications which has already strengthened Business Connexion’s existing complementary Oracle capabilities.
RDC has also been anticipating the shift that Oracle has taken towards cloud-based services and the threat of open source database offerings and have geared themselves for this advent by diversifying its skill set to include cloud-based and open source capabilities as well as competitive technologies.
“This acquisition will further strengthen Business Connexion’s Oracle competence, allowing us to deliver on Oracle’s drive to offer comprehensive cloud services out of a single entity,” says Isaac Mophatlane, CEO of Business Connexion. “Complementary to our current strengths in the mining and various other segments, it will further enhance our capabilities in the financial and telecommunication markets.”
RDC currently supplies Database, Middleware and Operating System support to Telkom and some of Telkom’s key customers in the datacentre space.
“The acquisition of RDC Group will further enhance our service offerings where the opportunity exists in South Africa and Africa to migrate clients to Oracle’s latest technology. Business Connexion is now positioned to deliver end to end services and solutions across the total Integrated Oracle Stack,” Vish Rajpal, Group Executive Business Solutions concludes.
