Low cost international money transfer company Hello Paisa was named the number one fintech company in Africa, at the SWIFT African Regional Conference.
Hello Paisa will now form part of a delegation along with two other finalists to Sibos, SWIFT’s annual global financial services conference in Geneva, Switzerland this year September. There the group will showcase how Hello Paisa performed and how it pioneered = financial inclusion in the African fintech space.
Hello Group CEO Nadir Khamissa says: “Through collaboration we are building a mobile-first digital financial services ecosystem in Africa. This allows people to leapfrog into the digital financial service space in the same manner that GSM allowed millions of Africans to leapfrog into the mobile telephony space 20 years ago.”
The Innotribe Start-Up Challenge Africa creates a platform for leading local and global organisations to support the evolving fintech space, and has been successful in showcasing innovative ideas across all spectrums.
“Hello Paisa is honoured to be acknowledged for its involvement in driving positive change in the industry at large,” says Hello Paisa MD Ahmed Cassim. “To be placed alongside best of breed global businesses that have led transformation all over the world is a great tribute and a strong validation of our continued dedication to putting Africa and more importantly African technology on the map.”
Hello Paisa launched in March 2015 as the first mobile remittance solution in South Africa and has grown its offering considerably now servicing individuals from Zimbabwe, Malawi, Nigeria, Kenya, India and Pakistan and Bangladesh.
