iPhone customers on Cell C can now initiate calls over WiFi using their own phone number even when a celluar signal is not available.
Wi-Fi Calling is available on the iPhone 5C, 5S, 6, 6 Plus, 6S, 6S Plus and 5SE, using iOS 9.3.2.
With Cell C’s WiFi Calling, customers can turn a WiFi hotspots into their own Cell C base station to make calls, send SMSs, check voicemails and balances and even buy bundles.
Cell C’s Wi-Fi Calling service is integrated with phones that support the service. This means that customers will still use their phone number, use their handset, as they would have when making a standard call or sending a regular SMS.
Customers using Wi-Fi Calling will be able to use their bundled contract minutes, or their prepaid airtime, to make calls or send SMSes locally or abroad.
Customers wanting to stay in touch while overseas can now simply ensure that WiFi Calling is active while travelling.
