The Department of Tourism has warned all service providers and the public at large not to be lured into a tender fraud scam which requires an upfront payment in doing business with the department.
These fraudsters use fictitious departmental documents like letters of appointments, purchase orders and contracts, supposedly from the department with a false signature of the Director: Supply Chain Management and/or the Director-General.
The department has set the record straight, stating that no service provider is expected to pay any fee upfront to be awarded a tender. All tenders are advertised within the context of prescribed prescripts.
Services providers and the public are urged to remain vigilant to the tender scam and other scams and further advised to report such to law enforcement agencies.
