Industrial communications provider, Metacom, has revealed its MC614M Intelligent Router, which ensures robust and reliable WiFi connectivity anywhere in Africa.
“The MC614M Intelligent Router was created to solve a very specific problem experienced by South African organisations – the need to have an integrated mobile hotspot which can move with the business and deliver value to the customer,” says Marius Visser, business executive at Metacom.
“Traditional solutions just deliver ‘vanilla’ internet with zero integration, battery life usually doesn’t allow for a full day of work in a mobile environment, and there is only one SIM card so network service can be variable to non-existent.”
The MC614M answers a question many Metacom clients have been asking – how can we create a mobile office environment with the benefits of managed services and without issues around reliability and reach? It includes all the features of the Metacom MC614 Intelligent Router, with up to four GSM SIM cards, WiFi and satellite communication capabilities, along with up to 14 hours of battery life with complete customer network integration and access to Metacom’s managed WiFi services.
In addition, the solution can also be used to provide customers with access to a targeted WiFi network. The MC614M Intelligent Router allows an organisation to implement reliable mobile hotspots on demand while simultaneously making room for further brand development. Customers can use the network created by the router to access the organisation’s apps and services which opens up plenty of opportunity for branding and engagement.
Visser adds: “If, for example, a retail outlet were to set up a mobile pop-up store, they can use the MC614M to securely connect staff and point of sale equipment to the network and then also allow customers access to apps or services across an entirely different network on the same device by means of the built-in WiFi hotspot.
“Metacom’s managed services then ensure complete control over users, data consumption and allocation, expenditure and speed. Traditional solutions don’t allow for any measure of control over how many internet-enabled SIM cards a business has in use, what people are using them for, or overall spend. The MC614M solution solves all these challenges in one.”
The MC614M Intelligent Router can be used at any location, from an event to a rural application anywhere in Africa, and can be customised to suit business requirements and use cases. It has already been implemented in the medical community, allowing for practitioners to deliver seamless patient care in inaccessible areas across Africa.
“The MC614M is designed to handle tough conditions and has a low cost of ownership,” concludes Visser. “Services can be accurately managed and spend controlled to suit budget allocations. Brands can adopt the solution to create pop-up presences throughout the country, and businesses can access the technology to deliver much-needed services to customers anywhere Africa. It is scalable, robust and reliable, and completely integrated into the business.”
