Rectron has been appointed as an official partner to Acronis in South Africa.
Acronis produces backup, disaster recovery and secure file sync and share solutions, of which Rectron will distribute its cloud backup solution for business.
“This is a particularly exciting partnership for Rectron – evidence that the company is really starting to open up its product stack,” says Elaine Wang, Microsoft business unit manager at Rectron.
Backup solutions are fundamental to business security. If a small business doesn’t have backup it can find itself stuck without data – and if it doesn’t have its data – it essentially shuts down. This is why it’s important for Rectron to ensure resellers have the best backup solutions available.
“Acronis has a really solid name and brand reputation in terms of backup solutions and has done so for many years,” comments Wang. Its backup tools are also really easy for businesses to use, meaning it’s a good option for small businesses, she adds.
When it comes to effective backup, Wang says businesses should operate according to the three-two-one rule. “You always need to have three copies, including one backup locally and one backup in the cloud to make sure that you’re 100% covered.” She explains that Acronis is particularly useful in this regard as it can backup to anything, whether it be on premise or the cloud. Clients can also benefit from the use of the Acronis data centres.
“It’s a solution that resellers can really make money off of by providing value-added services for customers,” Wang says.
In terms of its distribution of Acronis, Rectron is offering resellers two different options. “We have an option where they can manage the solution and customer themselves, but we’re also introducing a managed backup option for resellers. Under that option we will help resellers to monitor their customer’s backup and make sure that everything is running smoothly.”
This is a great new value-add for Rectron’s clients. “We’re essentially offering to take the stress of managing the solution off of our resellers’ hands so that they are freed up to manage other aspects of their business,” Wang comments.
