Meg Whitman has resigned as chairman of HP’s board.
The news comes just a day after she was named as one of the executives likely to be recruited as Uber CEO.
Whitman was chairman of HP through the company split, and remained as chairman of the board as well as CEO of HP Enterprise.
This week Bloomberg reported that Whitman was on a shortlist of six people who would potentially take over from ousted Uber boss Travis Kalanick.
Whitman announced her resignation from HP’s board the following day (26 July).
The new Uber CEO is expected to be announced within six weeks.
