Nokia’s most affordable Windows Phone 8 smartphone has begun sales in South Africa, joining the flagship Nokia Lumia 920 and mid-range Nokia Lumia 820.
The Nokia Lumia 620 is a colourful, entry-level smartphone that delivers high-end performance in a compact new design.
The Nokia Lumia 620 will initially be available on an MTN Anytime 100 contract at R229 per month, with 150Mb data included for 24 months.
“It is great to be extending the Lumia family in South Africa with the addition of our third and most affordable Windows Phone 8 smartphone. The 620 adds more youthful appeal to the range and enables us to reach new audiences and markets with a highly desirable product at a competitive price,” says Colin Baumgart, GM of Nokia South Africa.
The Nokia Lumia 620 comes with exchangeable shells that use a dual-shot colour technique to deliver new colour combinations. Dual-shot adds a second layer of coloured, transparent or translucent polycarbonate on top of a base layer to produce secondary colour blends and depth effects.
Like the Nokia Lumia 920 and the Nokia Lumia 820, the Nokia Lumia 620 boasts exclusive camera “lenses”, applications that transform the creative power of its five megapixel main camera and VGA front-facing camera.
Cinemagraph adds simple animations to still photographs, while Smart Shoot creates a single, perfect shot from multiple images, even removing unwanted objects from the picture.
The Nokia Lumia 620 also features the full suite of Nokia navigation applications, including the Nokia City Lens, as well as Nokia Music for unlimited music streaming.
With NFC support, the Nokia Lumia 620 can pair with NFC-enabled accessories like the JBL PlayUp Portable Speaker for Nokia or the Nokia Purity Pro wireless stereo headset by Monster.
The Nokia Lumia 620 is initially slated for South Africa in white and black, with a wide variety of interchangeable back colours available including cyan, lime, orange, magenta and yellow.
