A new cloud solution, launched by Vodacom Business Services, the enterprise arm of Vodacom Group, means that South African businesses can now eliminate the need to have a private branch exchange (PBX) on their premises.
Hosted in the Vodacom Data Centre, the IP PBX solution has all the features of a traditional PBX, which allows users within a company to exchange internal calls while sharing the external lines through a switchboard.
On top of this, the IP PBX has the added benefit of being highly secure and easily scalable to growing business needs.
The technology used in the solution also means that Vodacom Business Services can service multiple customers and sites as part of the same virtual PBX – thereby improving efficiency and lowering costs.
“The benefits for enterprises of all sizes are quickly realised,” says Gary Hart, Vodacom Business Services’ executive head of Network Services & Unified Communications.
“One of the primary benefits is the cost savings in licenses and VoIP calls. Having no PBX on site is a distinct advantage as support is all done by Vodacom’s expert support staff. Should a handset fail, it is quickly replaced at zero cost to the user, and users can be added, renamed or reduced as required.
“Our online Customer Portal allows access by your authorised staff 24/7 and features may be added or reduced depending on our customers’ needs.”
The solution is offered on an OPEX based service with Vodacom Business Services supplying the customer with a choice of IP Handsets and licenses. The services are delivered via a secure and guaranteed IP connection, like Fibre, Microwave and Diginet.
