Businesses with virtualised IT environments will soon be able to back up their servers to a secure cloud-based service of their choice, says Jessica van Wyk of Veeam South Africa.
“Veeam Backup and Replication is already the easiest, most reliable, quickest way to back up your virtual machines – and the only one that allows you to test every single backup,” says Van Wyk.
“Veeam Cloud Edition adds another layer of protection, making it easy to keep backups offsite.”
Globally, Veeam Cloud Edition supports 15 public storage clouds including Microsoft Azure, Amazon S3, Amazon Glacier, Rackspace, HP Cloud and more. But, says Van Wyk, this is just the beginning.
“We know a lot of companies would prefer a local storage provider – someone you can call easily, who is subject to the same laws and regulations. Veeam Backup Cloud Edition has an open API and we are actively inviting local companies to plug in and become part of the ecosystem.”
Van Wyk expects the cloud service to be especially attractive to small- and medium-sized enterprises.
“Many small to mediaum and micro enterprises at the moment either have no off-site backups at all, or must rely on an employee to take a hard drive home periodically. Both of those are very risky options,” she says.
“Backing your servers up to the cloud means you don’t have to worry about them.”
