While the international cycling fraternity is still recovering from the fallout of the Lance Armstrong saga, an industry leading South African Web site development and content management services company Syncrony, has developed a road and mountain bike focussed online Web portal.
Bikefit.co.za is a local Web site developed to promote and support the Bikefit (Bike Fit Personal Cycling Services) initiative, run by master bike fitter, Mark Williams.
The company specialises in professional cycling coaching, bike fitting, indoor training and weight loss programs for cyclists. It is based in Rivonia Johannesburg, and provides guidance and support for both serious cyclists and beginners.
The site provides information and support for cyclists as well as back-end functionality for members. Member functionality includes a running history of performance assessment tests as well as access to a cycling community.
A full featured weight reduction programme provides members with weight, body measurements, blood sugar levels and exercise logs. The system sends scheduled reminders for members to enter measurements and also delivers a stream of diet advice at regular intervals.
“At Bikefit.co.za, keen cyclists on road and mountain bikes can receive up-close and personal services for their individual riding needs from recognised industry professionals. Our main role has been to accommodate all the necessary information on the Web site and present this data in an organised and aesthetically pleasing way for easy access,” explains Howard Rybko of Syncrony.
BikeFit offers top level custom coaching, fitness assessments and custom coaching/training programmes for all levels, as well as the benefits of an indoor training facility with comprehensive realtime data projection.
“The initiative is about promoting the highest standards within cycling and about helping to introduce people to the sport, with an emphasis on safety and best practices,” Rybko continues.
“In order to engage with as wide an audience as possible, we have devised and constructed a Web site that is attractive, informative and practical.”
