Members of eBucks, the rewards programme offered by FNB and RMB Private Bank, may not have to feel the pinch of the petrol price increase of 81c per litre today as much as non-eBucks members. They are able to use their eBucks to help pay for their next tank of fuel at participating Engen service stations.
“Buying fuel is a necessity for most of us, so the fuel price hike comes as a real blow to South Africans who are already feeling increased financial pressure as a result of continuous rising costs of day-to-day living expenses,” says Jolandé Duvenage, eBucks CEO.
“Being able to spend eBucks on fuel, members can free-up some cash to rather spend it on something they really want or need,” she says.
Since February 2009, eBucks’ members have spent over R115-million worth of eBucks on fuel at participating Engen service stations, which equates to about 234 000 tanks of fuel.
“It’s clear that our members have found value in our partnership with Engen as the only rewards programme in South Africa to offer its members the ability to spend their rewards currency on fuel. This is particularly beneficial with the upcoming March/April holidays,” she adds.
Using an eBucks card to pay for fuel is as simple and safe as any other card transaction. Members simply fill up at any participating Engen service station, swipe their eBucks cards and enter their eBucks PIN to complete the transaction.
