South African road users trying to pay traffic fines online this morning were stymied by a Bangladeshi hacker group.

The Automatic Adjudication of Road Traffic Offences (AARTO) Web site has been hacked by the Bangladeshi 3xp1r3 Cyber Army.
Vehicle owners looking to pay or review vehicle infringements on the site today were met with a hacked home screen and a notice declaring “Dear Admin, secure your site!”.
The 3xp1r3 group is responsible for a number of prominentĀ hacks, including those on the Bangladesh Supreme Court Web site and a Mexican government portal.
The agency has since taken the hacked home screen down, and put up a “503 Service Temporarily Unavailable” page instead.

*Update: Service has been restored on the AARTO Web site.
