Fontera Digital Works, one of South Africa’s only independent development houses with an international footprint, has signed a partnership agreement with Gemgem, an online-based sample box marketer for new and expectant moms.
The partnership sees Fontera developing ecommerce solutions for Gemgem. Under Fontera’s development, Gemgem has evolved from a group-deals site housing information for expectant moms and a reader-based blog, to a monthly subscription service called Gembox, which allows expectant moms to try out a gift box consisting of baby products that is delivered to their door.
“With our experience working with retail brands for a wide variety of international and local markets, we feel we are perfectly suited to both develop and enhance the Gemgem offering to best suit its target audience,” says Simon Leps, CEO of Fontera Digital Works.
Fontera, as the development house behind the brand, helped craft the creative Gembox concept. It consists of boxes containing different products each month, such as nappy cream and baby juices valued at double the subscription fee. Mothers can then subscribe online to receive these boxes on a one month, three month or six month subscription basis.
“We believe that there is a growing trend of baby care brands utilising innovative methods to market their products. As the first sample box for baby care products, Fontera will help us remain innovative and relevant, while offering the best online experience to our users,” concludes CEO of Gemgem, Jade Bush.
