The local channel was hit by a bombshell this morning when it was revealed that one of its leading chief executives – Tarsus’ Pierre Spies – has resigned from the company after 21 years.
While an official statement from Tarsus’ holding company MB Technologies is expected later today, reliable sources say that Spies announced his resignation in a memo to staff earlier this morning.
All attempts to contact Spies and the CEO of MB Technologies, Glenn Fullerton, at the time of going to press proved fruitless.
Spies is one of the most highly-regarded executives in the South African channel.
He started with Tarsus in 1992 as an accountant. Within two years he was promoted to financial director and is credited with putting in place many of the business systems and controls that have seen the company become one of the biggest distributors in the country.
He took over as CEO of Tarsus from Guy Whitcroft in 2007.
IT-Online will keep readers updated as official details of Spies’ resignation appear.
