The Notebook Company has recently added consumables to its retail offerings – and its CEO has made a rather unusual commitment to low prices: he says he’ll donate a unit of blood for every case where the company doesn’t save customers money.
Christopher Riley, CEO of the Notebook Company, says the retailer is promising clients the cheapest ink, toner and paper in the industry.
“People talk about putting your money where your mouth is, but what about putting blood where you mouth is?” he asks. “The rationale behind this is that, if we don’t save our clients money, then I will personally donate a unit of blood for every case brought to my attention.”
Riley adds that consumables costs are high.
“It’s crazy to acknowledge, but printer ink costs more than human blood,” he says. “I believe we can save our clients thousands of rands a year in the costs of ink, toner and paper.”
