Veeam Software, an innovative provider of backup, replication and virtualisation management solutions for VMware vSphere and Microsoft Hyper-V, has announced Veeam Backup & Replication v7, taking Modern Data Protection to the next level with two disruptive innovations: built-in WAN Acceleration; and Backup from Storage Snapshots.
Built-in WAN Acceleration, which was developed by Veeam and optimised specifically for Veeam backups, copies data to offsite locations up to 50 times faster than a regular file copy.
This removes the need to purchase and deploy a general purpose WAN acceleration appliance or acquire additional network bandwidth for offsite backups.
The second groundbreaking new capability, Backup from Storage Snapshots, has been developed in partnership with HP and works with HP StoreVirtual VSA, HP StoreVirtual (LeftHand, P4000) and HP StoreServ (3PAR) to dramatically improve recovery point objectives (RPOs) while greatly reducing stress on the virtual infrastructure.
As a result, IT admins can make backups as often as they want throughout the day, even for I/O intensive virtual machines (VMs).
Veeam Backup & Replication v7 includes another seven market-changing features and more than 50 other new features and enhancements, many of which have been recently announced, including Veeam Explorer for Microsoft SharePoint, VMware vCloud Director Integration, Self-Service Recovery of VMs and Guest Files, and Native Tape Support.
Veeam offers several options to meet each customer’s particular data protection needs and budget. In addition to the Free, Standard and Enterprise Editions of Veeam Backup & Replication, Veeam has created a new edition, Enterprise Plus, which includes the two most disruptive innovations in Veeam Backup & Replication v7: Built-in WAN Acceleration and Backup from Storage Snapshots.
In addition, Veeam is offering a free upgrade to existing Enterprise Edition customers and to those who purchase or upgrade to Enterprise Edition before July 1, 2013. These customers can upgrade for free to the Enterprise Plus Edition through 1 November, 2013.
