Luxembourg for Business and the Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce will be hosting ICT workshops in Johannesburg and Cape Town on 25 June and 26 June, respectively.
The workshops will address decision-makers from South African technology companies wishing to establish offices in Europe, and participants will receive comprehensive information on the key drivers to establish in Luxembourg for carrying out pan-European e-business activities.
Tom Kettels of Luxembourg for Business comments: “Since the early 1990s when Archbishop Desmond Tutu coined the term, South Africa has been known as the Rainbow Nation. If there would be a rainbow nation in Europe, it could well be Luxembourg.
“Multicultural and multilingual, Luxembourg is a European melting pot made up of local and foreign residents, EU officials, international expats and commuters from its neighbouring countries.”
Luxembourg provides access to Europe’s 500-million consumers, and is efficient at giving businesses the operating power to reach the European markets faster and more profitably than any other location.
Kettels adds: “In Luxembourg, the focus lies on business and not bureaucracy, which means that administration and decision-making is fast, and government officials are open and accessible.
“Leaders listen and can be more responsive to your business needs. As a result, you will find one of Europe’s most business-friendly environments for ICT companies. Many leading ICT and media companies from around the globe run their European operations from here.”
Companies such as Amazon.com, iTunes, PayPal and Vodafone Procurement all have a presence in Luxembourg.
Luxembourg offers one of the most extensive and secure data centre parks in Europe, as well as abundant low latency connections to all of the major European Internet hubs.
“Furthermore, Luxembourg provides a trusted environment for the cloud, thanks to the unmatched expertise and high level of certification of its XaaS solution providers, the revolutionary legal framework and the deep-rooted culture of trust and security,” says Kettels.
“Add to that Luxembourg’s central location in the heart of Europe – where you can quickly reach the population representing 60% of Europe’s GDP, one of the Europe’s best logistics hubs, strong corporate support services, a business-friendly regulatory and tax environment, a highly skilled multilingual and multicultural workforce and one of the finest qualities of life in Europe – and you begin to see that Luxembourg really is the ideal base for European e-business.
“We’d therefore like to invite all interested parties from the information and communication technologies, to join us to learn more. Speakers will include senior representatives from the government promotion agency as well as Luxembourg ICT companies. Our objective is to provide South African tech companies that want to establish in the European market with information on the advantages of setting up in Luxembourg.”
