McAfee has announced that leading research firm Gartner has positioned the company in the Leaders’ Quadrant in its “Magic Quadrant for Secure Web Gateways” as published on 28 May, 2013.
Gartner’s research examined leading who offer Web gateway solutions that utilise URL filtering, malware detection and application control technology to protect organisations and enforce Internet policy compliance.
According to the report, “Leaders are high-momentum vendors (based on sales and mind share growth) with established track records in Web gateway security, as well as vision and business investments indicating that they are well-positioned for the future.
“Leaders do not necessarily offer the best products and services for every customer project; however, they provide solutions that offer relatively lower risk.”
In order to be included in the report, among other criteria, vendors must provide all three components of a secure Web gateway; URL filtering, anti-malware protection and application control capabilities.
“Our Leaders position in the Magic Quadrant confirms the McAfee approach to securing the Web,” says Pat Calhoun, GM of the network security business unit at McAfee.
“The McAfee Web Protection solution offers the advanced security, control, and malware protection organisations need to take full advantage of the Web. Combined with the flexibility to have on premise or cloud-based
Web protection with a single solution, McAfee Web Protection leads the way in lower total cost of ownership.”
McAfee WebProtectionGateway delivers comprehensive security for all aspects of Web traffic, regardless of location or device. For user-initiated Web requests, McAfee Web Gateway first enforces an organisation’s Internet use policy.
For all allowed traffic, it then uses multiple realtime techniques to analyse the nature and intent of all content and active code entering the network via the requested Web pages, providing immediate protection against malware and other hidden threats.
