Collaborative work management software provider, Mindjet, has been included in Forrester Research’s Document Collaboration Vendor Landscape report.
Mindjet was shortlisted and showcased as a collaboration choice for visual thinkers, and those that want to get more out of SharePoint. The report comes at a time when the importance of cloud-based document collaboration tools is rapidly increasing but content strategies remain vastly different from company to company, and is designed to help CIOs select the right solution for their business.
In 2009, Forrester Research, a global research and advisory firm, produced “The Forrester Wave: Collaboration Platform” to evaluate a maturing vendor landscape for document collaboration solutions.
However, much has changed and since that report was published, the market has seen significant upheaval from consumer-focused offerings, cloud-based entrants, as well as repositioned offerings from traditional content and collaboration vendors.
At the same time, the demand for mobile document collaboration has resulted in new requirements that drive users to self-provision solutions if IT is not immediately responsive. This new vendor landscape orbits around document collaboration, but vendors have very different strategies around the role of content in a knowledge worker’s daily life.
The report underscores the need for company CIOs to understand vendor strategies and strengths so they can select the right solution for their business.
Speaking about Mindjet’s inclusion in the report, Frank Reinelt, senior director for Northern Europe & Emerging Markets at Mindjet says: “Mindjet was specifically referred to for its ability to play several roles within a company’s document collaboration strategy, beginning with visual brainstorming, through to problem solving and content organisation, via SharePoint or the cloud.
“The role of both Mindjet’s SharePoint integration and web platform was also highlighted, along with the ability to tie document collaboration directly to our task management solution.”
The report states that investment in content and document management represents a significant portion of overall IT spend and is expected to grow in 2013, which is consistent with Forrester’s conclusions that investment in technology solutions that support and empower knowledge workers, remains a priority for organisations looking to better leverage their most expensive and valuable resources: their people.
The report’s findings are based on survey results from over 3,000 IT executives and technology decision-makers around the world, and each vendor mentioned provides a different combination of functionalities.
“Forrester is an eminently reputable organisation, which delivers highly relevant research-based services, and we are thrilled to have been included in this report,” concludes Reinelt.
