Huawei, a leading global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider, recently announced that its OceanStor HVS Enterprise Storage System, flagship product of Huawei’s storage portfolio, was presented with the “Red Dot Award: Product Design 2013” by renowned European design institution, Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen.
The Red Dot Design Award, widely acclaimed as the “Oscar” of the design industry, is one of the most prestigious design awards in the world. Huawei’s OceanStor HVS Storage System is the only storage product to receive the “Red Dot Award: Product Design” in 2013.
With a concept that emphasises on “reliability” and “precision”, the design of Huawei’s OceanStor HVS Enterprise Storage System cabinet features simplicity and elegance. With cabinet doors that feature an aluminium oxide sandblasting finish, the storage system conveys a unique style resonating reliability, understated elegance and power.
As described by the Red Dot, “the design focuses on a few fine-tuned and functional details”, such as lamellate profiles which ensure efficient air flow, enhancing system performance while creating a unique visual structure, and overall the HVS system is “capable of intelligently managing large amounts of data, as is required in dynamically growing data centres”.
According to the judging panel of the Red Dot Design Award, the (OceanStor HVS) storage system conveys its most important characteristics in a discreet and reserved way. It is easily expanded yet maintains a unified, harmonious overall image.
