The Nedbank App Suite has been awarded the Best Android App in the consumer category at the MTN App of the Year Awards 2013, regarded as the premier showcase of South Africa’s technical talent and platform for locally-developed applications that make a positive and lasting impact on consumers.
Fred Swanepoel, Nedbank chief information officer, says: “We’re delighted with our win, especially since Nedbank is a first time entrant. It has taken a lot to develop a world-class mobile application and this award confirms that we’re moving towards being a leader in the mobile and digital space in South Africa.”
The awards event celebrates innovation, originality and excellence in the South African app arena, and is judged by industry experts such as Melissa Attree, Kojo Baffoe, Toby Shapshak, Jonathan Hoehler and Max Stone.
The Nedbank App Suite provides clients with a one-of-a-kind, customisable and accessible banking, financial services and lifestyle mobile experience. With more than 250 000 downloads to date, the Nedbank App Suite makes it easy for clients to bank securely any time, anywhere using BlackBerry, Apple (iPhone and iPad), Android (phones and tablets) and selected Nokia devices.
Transaction values processed through the Nedbank App Suite so far have exceeded R20-billion since its launch in August 2012, highlighting the trust that clients have instilled in this solution, Nedbank says.
