Mustek, the country’s largest assembler and distributor of personal computers and complementary ICT products, has announced the availability of NEC’s latest projector range in South Africa.
The NEC VE series, consisting of two models has been designed to meet the market’s current requirements, which prioritise simplicity and ease of use via a quality, reliable product that supports full HD resolution.
The NEC VE series currently consists of two models: the VE281 an SVGA unit at 800×600 resolution; and the VE281X an XGA unit at 1024×768 resolution.
“We have seen that not all sectors of the market are looking for complex systems that provide multiple connections. Over the past few years the NEC entry level projectors have made a tremendous impact in the education space.
“That is due to the reliability of the products with exceptionally long lamp hours and extremely low failure rates, all the while ensuring simplicity and the provision of the most popular connections in use today – VGA and HDMI. They allow resolution support across the spectrum, thereby offering support to full HD resolution,” says Lizette McIntosh, product manager at Mustek for NEC Visual Displays.
Two years ago NEC started to incorporate eBeam interactive technology with their ultra-short throw projectors. As a result of Mustek’s existing relationship with NEC, Mustek was awarded distributorship of the full range of eBeam interactive devices. Mustek has since then been able to create cost effective bundles aimed specifically at the education market.
These include NEC entry level projectors, such as the VE series, with an eBeam interactive device to create the lowest priced interactive solution for classrooms.
Hein Engelbrecht, MD of Mustek, says, “We have a historical relationship with NEC with many years of successful partnership together including the honour of receiving various awards over the time. In addition to ensuring strong expertise and technical support, it is critical to ensure that we are evolving our solutions in line with the changing market needs.
“Today teaching methods have changed to that of collaborative learning and it is here that eBeam technology becomes core. At the centre of this collaboration in the classroom, is the interactive white board. In the past, these were heavy and immobile, but thanks to eBeam technologies, teachers are offered complete mobility.”
Other features of the NEC VE projector series include:
* Virtual Remote, a standard app included in all projectors;
* Resolution support across the spectrum, up to 1 920 x 1 080;
* Longer lamp hours combined with lower power consumption;
* On board maintenance intelligence – a timer setting allowing the user to schedule the time to switch off if no signal is detected in order to protect lamp and projector; shut down on overheat; shut down on lamp overcooling; measurement of lamp usage; and measurement of projector usage;
* 3D-readiness, with a 7w built-in speaker; and
* Security features come standard with the control pad lock- down feature, as well as passwords to operate projector or remote.
These two models are brighter at 2800 ANSI lumen versus 2600 ANSI lumen of the previous generation. Both products include a two year collect, repair and return warranty.
