Platco Digital’s free-to-air satellite TV platform, OpenView HD, is now operational and South African viewers can take advantage of it through nothing more than a once-off payment. Platco says there is no monthly subscription fee for the platform and that there never will be.
“By switching on OpenView HD, we are allowing every South African to be part of the digital/satellite TV revolution and offering a viable alternative to this underserviced market,” says Maxwell Nonge, MD of Platco Digital.

Platco says that OpenView HD offers a variety of genres catering to local viewers’ needs and will initially offer 16 channels, including SABC1, SABC2, SABC3 and e.tv. The latter’s eMovies+ and eKasi+ will also be broadcast.

“Our OpenView HD offering is a testament of our commitment to developing an alternative Direct-To-Home(DTH) broadcast platform in South Africa in an effort to contribute to the increase in the number and quality of TV channels for viewers,” says Nonge.

Retailing for about R1 600.00, OpenView HD is currently available at all major South African retailers nationwide.
