Warewolf, a visual, flow-based programming platform, is now available for open beta testing. The new platform is set to empower developers by speeding up business application development time by 400%.
Developers anywhere who are keen to experience the positive impact that Warewolf can have on their productivity and efficiency are invited to download the beta, without having to register on the site.
The platform is easy to learn and easy to use, and allows multiple parties to work on a project without lengthy handovers between phases, or when a developer leaves the team. It uses prewritten components, which means that developers can develop business software in a quarter of the time it would normally take with standard C# or Java development.
“We are aiming for 2 000 to 3 000 developers worldwide to join our beta programme, so that we can make sure that Warewolf is completely ready to be introduced to the mainstream as soon as possible,” says Barney Buchan, the CEO of Dev2, the Durban-based company contracted to develop the platform.
“Once we have integrated the feedback from all beta testers, Warewolf will be released to the market for rollout.”
Due to its visual nature, Warewolf requires less documentation, making it much easier to demonstrate applications to non-developer colleagues in a business, whether it is to show what the application will achieve, or to reveal the implications of changes made within an application’s design.
Warewolf can also be hosted in the cloud, which means that everything built in the platform is automatically available as a web service, making it easy to integrate with other Warewolf applications, anywhere in the world.
“Developers participating in the open beta will have the opportunity to join us in shaping the future of business application programming,” says Buchan. “We have built Warewolf to be relevant to any business environment worldwide, and beta testers will be able to take the lead in changing the way that developers work, globally.”
Buchan’s team of enthusiastic developers has been working on Warewolf since mid-2011, after responding to a business need for a simplified, collaborative business-oriented developing platform in a previous working environment while working at The Unlimited, an innovative financial services company.
