International Data Corporation (IDC) has named Ricoh as the unrivalled leader in the high-speed inkjet continuous feed market for the sixth consecutive year.

The accolade rides the coat tails of Ricoh’s InfoPrint 5000 production print platform according to IDC’s US Quarterly Production Print Tracker.

“Our market share has increased from 39% in 2012 to 42% in 2013,” says Vaughan Patterson, sales manager for the production printing business group at Ricoh SA. “Our next closest competitor is at 31%.”

IDC’s Production Printer Tracker is released quarterly and provides a detailed database of information on the laser and high-speed inkjet market segments. The report includes data on overall market size, share by vendor and five-year projections.

“The great advantage for us is that the market in general is only showing modest growth,” says Patterson, “which means that our InfoPrint 5000 is gaining popularity for its reliability and production print technology among the high-volume printers.”

Part of the success of the platform, says Patterson, is that it is an expanding suite of software and professional services allied to the technology. In the past year, the InfoPrint 5000 family achieved a variety of milestones to add to these most recent rankings, including the printing of 60 billion production impressions worldwide, using up to 50% less power than other inkjet systems and more.
