Distributor Drive Control Corporation (DCC) is offering sales and technical training on the latest release of Symantec Backup Exec, helping resellers to learn about the new features and functionality of Symantec Backup Exec 2014. This training forms part of the distributor’s comprehensive Symantec program, aimed at assisting all resellers, regardless of the distributor they are affiliated with.

“Globally, Symantec took the decision to outsource all of their training, and we took the opportunity to offer this important component in the South African market. We provide all resellers with a range of customised, practically oriented courses on Symantec products, enabling them to deliver enhanced customer service and aid them in achieving Symantec specialisations.

“This helps resellers to move up the Symantec partner tiers and benefit from improved competitive advantage, maximised opportunities and accelerated marketing, sales, and service cycles to reduce time-to-profit. Our latest Backup Exec training has been updated to cover the 2014 release of the product, to ensure our resellers’ learning is as up to date as possible,” says Fred Mitchell, Symantec business unit manager at DCC.

Training on Backup Exec 2014, as well as all other programs, is facilitated by Pieter van der Westhuizen. Van der Westhuizen is a well-known accredited Symantec trainer with more than 14 years of experience on Symantec products and training experience across South Africa, the rest of Africa, the Middle East and Europe.

The course will cover comprehensive Backup Exec training, including the latest features of Backup Exec 2014. Some of these features include full support of Windows Server 2012 and Windows Server 2012 R2, the re-inclusion of Backup Exec job monitor to allow users to monitor the status of all backup jobs from a single view, and the ability to backup and manage multiple servers with a single backup job.

The latest version also includes a simplified upgrade and migration process, granular recovery for Exchange 2013 and SharePoint 2013 and optimised performance, along with support for various cloud capabilities.

“Keeping up to date with the latest products and releases is essential in ensuring we deliver value-added services and solutions to end users. By updating our training dynamically to cater for these latest releases, we can ensure our resellers are always ahead of the game,” Mitchell concludes.

Symantec Backup Exec training will take place at DCC’s head office in Linbro Business Park, Sandton, Johannesburg on 26 and 27 June 2014.
