Esquire Technologies, the award winning broad-based distributor – including IT, mobility, digital and consumer lifestyle products from international vendors – has announced that it has secured the Southern African distribution rights to Agfa Photo’s action camera range.

Agfa-Photo develops action cameras for various lifestyle and sporting needs, including cycling, climbing, fishing, diving, safaris, travelling and swimming.

Asgar Mahomed, MD of Esquire Technologies confirmed that the company will be primarily focused on Agfa’s new action camera range, a range that fits snugly with other products in its digital lifestyle range.

“People are becoming health conscious in South Africa –and are partaking more in outdoor and sports activities. We are seeing an increasing convergence between health, technology and social media. People want to share their sporting experiences, and want to upload action shots onto various social media platforms, so friends, family and colleagues get an action update of their latest sporting antics.”

He says the Agfa action cameras come with all the necessary features, meaning there is no need for end users to go out and buy any add-ons to use these products.

“These action cameras come ready to use, with all the necessary features.”

There are currently three Action cameras in the Agfa range, from the entry level to a mainstream model. The first is the “Wild Fun” model with HD quality and 2 inch display, which can be submerged up to three metres. It has a five megapixel lens, with resolution at 30 frames a second.

The “Wild View” unit can be submerged up to 30 metres, while HD quality provides a lens with 12 megapixel resolution at 30 frames per second.

Then there is the “Wild Top”- which is aimed at professionals. With this model users can dive up to 50 metres with full HD quality and a lens with a 12 megapixel resolution, at 60 frames per second. It also has a remote control and a 170 degree angle lens.

“We believe the range is perfectly suited to our digital lifestyle division for the southern African market,” says Mahomed.

He says the new Agfa action camera range is sold to its resellers via its locally developed Virtual Reseller Network (VRN), as well as through-commerce and retailing outlets where the company has a presence.

“We believe the Agfa product range is going to hit the tarmac running, and that we are going to see robust sales coming through in Q3 of this year.”
