The fifth annual China Sourcing Fair (CSF) will be held in Johannesburg from 13 to 15 November 2014.

According to organiser Global Sources, there was a 103% year-on-year increase in the Fair’s pre-registrations in 2013, which indicates a rising need for Asian-made products in South Africa. Attendance to the Fair grew 14%, to 8 600 visitors over the 2012 Fair.

Global Sources GM Bill Janeri says: “We are proud to announce that due to the remarkable growth over the past five years, we are moving this year’s China Sourcing Fair South Africa to the Johannesburg Expo Centre, Nasrec.

Based on the 2013 statistics, we anticipate a surge in visitor attendance for this year’s Fair and therefore trust that the additional space will ease their product sourcing experience.”

According to a report from the Boston Consulting Group (BCG), African consumers are eager to spend simply because “buying makes them happy”, while 60% to 90% of the 10 000 consumers polled in eight of the continent’s largest countries expressed a strong desire “to buy more things” every year. CSF South Africa visitors will have the opportunity to conveniently peruse and choose from a wide variety of quality products.

“The Fair will once again offer new and improved quality and economical consumer products from trusted Asian suppliers and with the added space, we will be able to carry a larger selection of products to view,” says Janeri.

Good to be exhibited include electronics, home products, gifts and premiums, fashion accessories, garments and textiles, and hardware and building materials.

Besides offering a dependable platform where buyers can source products from reliable, top-tier Asian suppliers; the China Sourcing Fairs concurrently allows interaction and building of beneficial relationships. “More than half of the exhibitors are planning to launch brand-new products at the show, giving buyers the opportunity to attract consumer interest with products not seen before,” says Tommy Wong, president of Global Sources Exhibitions.

The CSF South Africa offers visitors a free seat to attend a specialised “How to Source from China” conference on the first two days of the Fair. Attendees also stand a chance to win spot prizes.
