MTN has introduced new high denomination Internet bundles with a 60 day validity period. Currently, the validity period for Internet bundles is capped at 30 days.

The new bundles offer the lowest out of bundle rates of 29 cents per Megabyte.

Larry Annetts, chief operating officer: MTN South Africa, says the introduction of these new bundles addresses customer needs to access the Internet at affordable rates.

“These competitive Internet bundles will give customers that have been looking for low rates the opportunity to connect to the Internet and to instant messaging platforms cheaper and more cost effectively. During these trying economic times, customers have become savvier and are constantly looking for cheaper ways to communicate,” says Annetts.

In addition, MTN has further announced that it will reward customers who purchase data bundles between 50% and 100% of the data they have purchased. The free data will be valid for a period of up to 30 days on selected bundles.

For example, customers who purchase a 5Mb bundle will receive 2.5Mb of data free, valid for one day. Subscribers who purchase a 50Mb bundle will get free 25Mb of data valid for three days. Customers who purchase 3Gb worth of data bundles and above will receive half of the data purchased – the free data will be valid for a period of 30 days.

MTN has also introduced a range of new Internet data bundles, including a 5Mb bundle which is the first of its kind in the market. The 5Mb Internet bundle will retail for R3. The new data bundles that MTN now offers also include a 50Mb, a 3Gb, 5Gb, 10Gb and 20Gb volume bundles. These new data bundles will retail for R19, R299, R399, R599 and R1, 199 respectively.

Annetts adds that consumers will find the value proposition of these new data bundles very attractive as they are giving them incremental giveback value across all value bundles, and not only on high value bundles.

“We are proud to introduce the lowest out of bundle rates with a 60 day validity period which is unheard of in South Africa. This is one of the ways we are introducing or subscribers into the new and bold digital world,” Annetts concludes.
