MTN South Africa has launched a roaming promotion for the benefit of members of the Muslim community who will be travelling to Mecca, in Saudi Arabia, for the annual Hajj pilgrimage .
The roaming promotion commences with immediate effect and runs until 10 October and sees greatly reduced voice, SMS and data rates during the Hajj.
The special rates will only be valid for MTN customers roaming in Saudi Arabia on the Mobily network. Local calls will be charged at R2,50 per minute and calls to South Africa and the rest of the world at R5.00 per minute.
SMS will be charged at R2.00 per message, while data will be available at R2.00 per Mb.
To activate International Roaming, Contract and My MTNChoice customers can contact their service provider; Prepaid and Top-Up customers have this service by default. Customers can also activate MTN SMS Roaming by dialling *111*14#.
