There is now less than a month remaining to meet the deadline for the SARS interim PAYE reconciliation submissions for the period 1 March 2014 to 31 August 2014. The reconciliation submission season kicked off on 1 September and concludes on 31 October.
If you are running behind, here’s what you need to do to get everything in order to file your submission on time:
* Update your payroll and the SARS software – ensure that you are using the latest version of your payroll software and SARS e@syFile to ensure your submissions pass the current validations.
* No more manual submissions if you have five employees or more – SARS no longer accepts manual submissions if you have more than five IRP5/IT3(a) tax certificates to submit. All forms must be submitted electronically via SARS e@syFile and eFiling. If you have been submitting your payroll taxes manually to date, sign up for a SARS eFiling profile immediately and install the free SARS e@syFile software.
“Remember to use the EMP501 Reconciliation Report generated by your payroll software to complete your PAYE, SDL and UIF reconciliation declaration on SARS e@syFile. This will save you time and money,” says Madelein van der Watt, development manager at Sage Pastel Payroll & HR.
