In response to market demand, solutions and systems integration specialist StorTech has re-launched its data centre as a fully-fledged Software Defined Data Centre (SDDC).
Kishore Natvarlal, Managing Executive of StorTech’s Data Centre, says that innovation is being driven by the market. “The new IT agenda focuses on reducing costs, increasing the speed of new growth and balancing risk.
“As the platform of all the solutions we offer, our SDDC is completely virtualised and automated through software. As a result, we are able to lower the cost of running IT and offer a foundation for faster, more agile IT. Our SDDC provides the customer’s private cloud and can be extended to the public cloud, forming a hybrid cloud – the lowest cost way to run IT.”
StorTech is a Signature Partner with a Solution Centre, the highest partnership tier offered by EMC. In addition, Stortech is a gold VCE Partner and is one of the most successful partners with key investments in VCE support engineers.
Vblock platforms are preconfigured, with world-class compute, network, storage, management and virtualisation built into scalable platforms. When the Vblock arrives, it is fully implemented, and the customer has a fully provisioned environment at the click of a button. VCE is the Virtual Computing Environment company formed by EMC and Cisco with investments from VMware and Intel.
Servaas Venter, country manager of EMC Southern Africa, says StorTech has successfully evolved from a data centre and storage company into a solutions and systems integration specialist. “Today, StorTech is able to deliver the full spectrum of end-to-end technology solutions, and is ideally positioned to support our clients on their journey to cloud computing,” he says.
“With Certified Isilon Implementation Engineers, Certified VNX/Clarion Implementation Engineers and a number of Technical and Solution Architects, StorTech’s level of skill and competence on EMC’s technology is impressive.”
According to Natvarlal, StorTech invests heavily in equipment, skills and resources for its data centre on an annual basis to ensure its customers have access to the latest technology.
“A major purpose of the data centre is to provide customers with a live environment to test out solutions to their business requirements,” he says. “Consequently, our SDDC is fully kitted with EMC equipment – as new technologies are released, we implement them into the data centre as quickly as possible.”
New EMC technologies currently available in the StorTech SDDC include the EMC XtremIO All-Flash Array, VMware Data Recovery (VDR) acceleration and EMC XtremCache database acceleration.
