Following a successful launch in Parkview, Johannesburg, Telkom’s new super-fast LTE-Advanced (LTE-A) network is now live in five more suburbs: Illovo and Melrose in Gauteng; Sea Point and Three Anchor Bay in Cape Town; and Umhlanga in KwaZulu-Natal.

These suburbs now have access to peak Internet connectivity, with speeds of up to 150Mbps.

“Telkom is at the forefront of providing customers with high-speed technology that allows them to connect with friends and family. With our new LTE-A service, customers are able to use the service wherever there is a signal and coverage,” says Attila Vitai, MD for Consumer and Mobile at Telkom.

LTE-A is a wireless plug-and-play solution that can be used anywhere where signal and coverage allows. Being a wireless solution, LTE-A does not require a wire-connection that goes into your home and it can turn your home into a fully connected WiFi hotspot allowing for up to 32 devices to be connected simultaneously.

Telkom’s LTE-A offer is comparable to speeds available over a fibre network and offers a compelling alternative to fixed line solutions for high speed connectivity.

Telkom is offering 100Gb of LTE-A data at peak speeds of up to 150Mbps, which enables customers to download a 10Gb HD movie in less than eight minutes or download a 60Mb music album within nine seconds. The promotional offer is available for R1 399.00 per month on a 36-month contract.
