Dr De Villiers and Partners has upgraded its radiology department at the Netcare Garden City Hospital, which is based in Mayfair West, Johannesburg.
The installation of Konica Minolta Medical South Africa’s (KMMSA) AeroDR wireless Flat Panel Detector (FPD), has improved the digital imaging throughput of the department.
Dr Dharmesh Kessow, of Dr De Villiers and Partners, explains that the department has partnered with the Bidvest company, namely KMMSA, since its inception in 2011, saying that its most recent installation of the AeroDR unit
has delivered a number of benefits. “We had found that the imaging technology used previously was not providing the fast, easy throughput required, and was also using too many consumables.
“This meant that we needed to identify a quicker, more cost effective solution.”
Enter the AeroDR FPD, a lightweight, wireless digital FPD system that allows for easy patient and image detector positioning, while reducing patient discomfort and stress during procedures.
Dr Kessow explains that he had previously come across the AeroDR system at the annual Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) congress in Chicago, USA, and had been impressed by its versatility and innovative product design. “Aside from this, we had already established a good working relationship with KMMSA, an organisation that is backed by a strong international group, Bidvest.
“The AeroDR FPD system has been functioning extremely well for our department,” he continues. “From a staff perspective, the AeroDR is light and easy to use, as well as durable. Furthermore, the image processing turn-around time is much faster, meaning less waiting time for patients. It truly is a more effective way of converting images. The service delivery and back up received from KMMSA has also been excellent.”
AeroDR is the easiest way for radiology departments and practices to achieve digital workflow. It provides a faster, more flexible and more intelligent solution, building on the foundation of image quality for which Konica Minolta is renowned. KMMSA looks forward to continuing to partner with Dr De Villiers and Partners well into the future, assisting wherever possible to provide high quality, consistent and reliable imaging.
