Hitachi Data Systems Corporation (HDS) has announced new capabilities in its entire Hitachi Content Platform portfolio.
Now each system delivers true peace of mind in a wholly integrated and secure data, workforce and cloud mobility solution. HDS introduced the new Hitachi Content Platform (HCP) S10, which extends the existing HDS hybrid architecture by adding another low cost tier.
The company also updated Hitachi Data Ingestor and HCP Anywhere to enable secure – and unified – mobile access to both cloud and enterprise data. The enhanced HCP portfolio allows organisations to seamlessly transform to a cloud, mobile, open source and service-driven IT environment, while protecting their existing investments.
The Hitachi Content Platform portfolio is the only portfolio that offers integrated solutions for private and hybrid cloud, Openstack, elastic scale backup-free cloud gateways, file sync and share, and mobile access to enterprise NAS file shares from a single architecture. This integrated portfolio is designed, tested and supported from a single vendor and eliminates the complexity of do-it-yourself private and hybrid cloud.
By using a common platform, customers can enjoy superior cost optimisation across multiple use cases, eliminate solution silos, and improve manageability and security from a single point of control.
With the growing adoption of both private and public cloud and the transformation of traditional architectures to open source, cloud and mobile, organisations are grappling with how to bring their existing investments forward into this increasingly mobilised world.
New Hitachi Content Platform capabilities include:
* Extend cloud investments in order to deliver cost-optimised cloud services by using technologies and services that are aligned to business value.
* Enable hybrid cloud architectures to integrate business with elastic scalability across onsite and offsite cloud storage environments.
* Empower employees with mobility tools to accelerate productivity and competitiveness with secure unified access to both cloud and enterprise data.
The new Hitachi Content Platform S10 extends cloud environments by delivering a cost-effective solution that can be easily implemented on premises for full visibility and control of data. Hitachi Content Platform S10 is a plug-and-play solution that uses large-capacity consumer drives and erasure-coding data protection to ensure long-term protection at the lowest cost. Content can now be moved seamlessly to the S10 using HCP adaptive cloud-tiering functionality, which already offers organisations the ability to tier content to a company’s choice of leading public cloud services including Hitachi Cloud Service for Content Archiving, Amazon S3, Microsoft Azure, Verizon Cloud and Google Cloud Storage.
With the new release of HCP software, organisations can extend their cloud ecosystem by seamlessly integrating HCP into their OpenStack environment in order to exploit the robust, feature-rich capabilities of HCP as part of their overall OpenStack deployment.
Updates to Hitachi Data Ingestor enable unmatched simplicity of management for file services in remote or branch offices or at storage service providers’ customer sites. Data Ingestor helps hybrid cloud architectures achieve continuity of business without the need for local backups and provides elastic scalability by consistently managing remote site and cloud storage quotas from a single interface. This helps free IT from the burdens of traditional file servers and move to right-sized, simplified, optimised cloud gateways.
Hitachi Content Platform Anywhere now empowers mobile workers by going beyond file sync and share to provide mobile access to data in existing NAS systems, so users have secure access to cloud and enterprise data from anywhere, on any device, at any time. This new capability augments existing investments in NAS environments and helps IT bridge the gap between traditional NAS to next-generation file services. Hitachi Content Platform Anywhere also lets users pick from multiple languages for their client systems and offers efficient sync of large, open and duplicate files.
“We chose Hitachi Content Platform Anywhere to solve some specific file sharing problems that exist in our environment of offices spread throughout the world,” says Tim Gombold, director, IT and Data Center Infrastructure, Sitel.
“We chose HCP Anywhere specifically because it was part of an object storage solution set that also addressed several other challenges we have with unstructured data storage. We saw this as a perfect way to build a core, centralised repository of unstructured data while building a private cloud service for our geographically dispersed organisation.”
“Hitachi Content Platform Anywhere allows us to share large amounts of data with customers, suppliers and partners in a simple and secure way, from anywhere, on any device,” says Mag Gregor, CMO, executive board member, Kremsmüller Industrieanlagenbau KG.
“Today’s organisations demand seamless and secure mobility solutions that enable their employees to better deliver against their business priorities,” says Peter Sjoberg, CTO, Hitachi Data Systems.
“Today’s announcement has the everyday mobile users in mind, so that employees, partners and customers can connect with their content from any device or location. The Hitachi content mobility portfolio offers the most integrated and secure solutions for data mobility on the market.”
