“Users now have more devices than ever, from the traditional notebooks and PCs to highly mobile smartphones and tablets, which are often used to snap pictures in the moment. With the new Canon PIXMA printers, users can now print these photographs easily straight from their mobile device, taking advantage of legendary Canon photo print quality with borderless images.

“Furthermore, these all-in-ones offer additional value, printing affordable, quality everyday documents as well as offering copy and scan capability,” says Heinrich Pretorius, Canon product specialist at DCC.

The MG5640 features print resolution of up to 4 800 dots per inch (dpi) and impressive print speeds of up to 12,2 pages per minute (ppm) in black and white and 8,7ppm in colour. In addition, a borderless high quality 10cm x 15cm photograph can be printed in just 44 seconds, with ChromaLife100+ ink technology ensuring the colour stays bold and lasts.

This model incorporates five individual ink cartridges – the standard cyan, magenta, yellow and black as well as pigment black (PGBK) ink for enhanced depth of detail and sharpness of photo images while a large 6,2cm display ensures ease of operation.

The MG7540 offers print resolution of up to 9600 dpi and incorporates six individual inks, the same five as the lower end model with the addition of grey ink for enhanced quality and richness of photographs and documents. It offers print speeds of 15ppm in black and white and 10ppm in colour, and delivers a 10cm x 15cm borderless photo in around 21 seconds.

With two paper trays, this printer can simultaneously handle photo and plain paper. An 8.8cm colour touch screen delivers simple and intuitive operation with fingertip control.

Both devices offer automatic double-sided document printing to save time and paper. They also feature Canon PIXMA Cloud Link, which enables printing from and scanning to a variety of cloud storage providers directly from the printer screen.

The MAXIFY Printing Solutions app delivers this functionality to smartphones and tablets, while providing extended mobile print capability. Easy Photo Print+, accessible via the PIXMA Printing Solutions app, enables users to design and print greeting cards, photo collages and more from their tablet, PC or the cloud.

“With individual ink tanks, users need only change the cartridge that has run out, which makes colour printing more cost effective and more environmentally friendly. In addition, optional extra-large ink tanks offer great value for money, lowering the cost per print significantly. The Canon PIXMA MG5640 and MG7540 are the ultimate in versatile printing for home and business users,” Pretorius concludes.
