The South African Institute of Chartered Accountants’ (SAICA’s) social vision is to invest in South Africa’s economic success through education.
In partnership with youth specialist agency, HDI Youth Marketeers, SAICA has developed a series of university activations specifically aimed at bridging the gap between Accounting Sciences students, and students studying to qualify as prospective CAs(SA).
On 11 March 2015, SAICA will be hosting a CA Game Changers campus activation at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, where the exciting new CA(SA) app will be officially launched.
In 2015 SAICA will visit accredited universities across the country to motivate Accounting Students. In the pilot phase of the programme, University of Witwatersrand, University of Western Cape, University of Johannesburg and the University of Pretoria were activated, and the roll-out was a great success.
The campaign dubbed, Accounting Game Changers is aimed at inspiring students to choose the CA career path and CA(SA) designation.
This is done through providing them with motivational talks from newly qualified and well-established CA’s – game changers in their own rights – and allowing them an opportunity to share their own stories and answer students’ questions.
Events are followed by a networking session for students – where they can interact with guest speakers.
“SAICA’s long term goal is to highlight the important role that chartered accountants play in growing South Africa’s economy. By bringing the CA app to students, it makes it easier for them to get first-hand information to what it takes to be a successful CA. We are also connecting with young adults in their own language, in their own backyards”, says SAICA’s Nwabisa Mphakalasi.
SAICA’s CA in my Pocket app provides accounting students with exciting and relevant information about the CA designation. Students can also enjoy the benefit of access to information about the whys and hows of becoming a CA(SA) and catch some of SA’s coolest CAs(SA) profiles and latest news.
The app is available from Blackberry, Android, and iStore app stores. Just look for the CA icon.
