Ricoh has joined the Imaging Consumables Coalition of Europe, Middle East and Africa (ICCE), becoming the 10th member and strengthening the consumables industry’s fight against the counterfeiters.

David Mills, CEO of Ricoh Europe, says: “This is a really important issue for us. Ricoh is heavily investing in research and development to give our customers the best and most innovative products and technologies to meet the needs of their businesses. We have been affected by the illegal counterfeiting of our products and we have always taken a strong stance against this criminal activity. Joining the ICCE will enhance our own anti-counterfeit efforts in EMEA and strengthen the industry’s effectiveness in this fight.”

By working together as part of ICCE, members are able to effectively fight the counterfeiters and protect the imaging consumables industry which is currently threatened by a €1.6 billion market in counterfeit imaging supplies. These counterfeit products are often dangerous, environmentally unfriendly and cheat consumers of the quality they are entitled to expect from genuine branded consumables.

A spokesperson from ICCE says: ‘We are excited to welcome Ricoh as a member. Working with other brands in the fight against counterfeits is essential in order to maximise effective working with law enforcement and to have a real impact on those making and selling counterfeits.”
