Arrow Altech Distribution (AAD) has announced the appointment of Peter Griffiths as its new MD, following the retirement of long-time incumbent Andre du Preez, who will step down at the end of August 2015.
Griffiths has served the Altron group for the past 14 years, most recently as the GM of Altech GDL, a subsidiary of Altech Multimedia.

Du Preez has been involved with AAD since its founding in 1998, and was actively involved in the merger and integration of the four Altech distribution companies at the time, namely Allied Electronic Components, Electronic Building Elements, Fairmont and Pace Electronic Components.

Over the course of his tenure, Du Preez was instrumental in ensuring the organisation was one of the most consistently successful operations within the group.

He says that Griffiths has proven himself to be an excellent leader with a strong track record.

“Peter knows the Altron Group well having joined the organisation in 2001. He has a wealth of experience and is known for delivering high quality service to his customers. Peter transformed Altech GDL from being a loss making entity into a leading profit centre for Altech UEC and I have no doubt that under his leadership, AAD will continue to exceed customers’ expectations in terms of knowledge, expertise and quality of service delivery.”

According to Griffiths, the appointment represents a milestone in his career and he is looking forward to continuing Du Preez’ legacy.

“Andre has set a fine example and is one of the most accomplished leaders in the Altron Group. In addition, AAD is a great company with great people and I am confident that together with my leadership team, we can ensure AAD remains Africa’s largest electronic components distributor and that we keep on delivering value to our stakeholders,” Griffiths says.
