Ithuba has partnered with mobile vending business Flash to increase its reach of National Lottery products to the South African public. This will also increase Ithuba’s footprint in the informal retail market to bring the lottery closer to people.
Flash traders nationally are able to offer Lotto and PowerBall tickets through the Flash system; they will be available from any Flash store, with both own number selection and/or quick pick.
“We are excited about the partnership with Flash and the prospects that come with it. As Ithuba we have a mandate to provide South Africa with the lottery regardless of location and we are achieving just that with Flash,” says Charmaine Mabuza, CEO of Ithuba Holdings.
Introducing the lottery via Flash devices not only offer convenience to players but also an improved offering to local traders. With more than 80 000 Flash Traders across the informal sector nationally, the National Lottery will now be more accessible.
“The fact that this partnership will bring feet to the stores of our many traders is very exciting for us at Flash.  We constantly strive to improve the business of the small entrepreneur in South Africa, someone who is making a daily living outside the formal economy,” says Ross Norton, head of product at Flash.
“This will also be the first time since its inception that lottery tickets will be on sale deep in the community, giving every South African a chance to play, without incurring the cost of a taxi fare.”
