Network Platforms has dramatically transformed the quality of its services and solutions since moving its data environments across to Teraco. This change has allowed the company to now take control of, and implement, multiple transit services via a number of different routes and thereby assure clients of a more seamless and dynamic service.
“Prior to our move to Teraco, Network Platforms had a combined transit capacity of only 100Mbps over which we had no control” says Gavin Epstein, sales executive at Network Platforms. “If there were any connectivity issues, we were then reliant on the ISP and this could take hours, if not days, to resolve. Now, three years into our relationship with Teraco, we have increased our capacity by more than 500% with significantly improved control over connectivity and service delivery.”
The shift to the Teraco base allows for Network Platforms to peer with NAP Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban as well as JINX, CINX and the London Exchange, LINX. These peering points save significantly on price as the bandwidth originally used on primary IP transit links is now flowing between the Internet service providers (ISPs) within the peering point at a reduced cost to them.
“This array of peering points allows for our clients to enjoy lower latencies, lower costs and higher performance,” says Epstein. “We can now assure our clients of the best possible service and functionality, delivering both connectivity and capability where it counts.”
Network Platforms now leverages off Teraco by providing other tenants in the Teraco environment with a variety of services and solutions. These include the ability to assist clients with remote peering ports to access NAP Africa, IP transit services and protected national transit services between the Teraco environments.
“Network Platforms’ clients also gain the advantage of Layer 2 connectivity over both fibre and microwave and VMware provisioning designed for swift and adaptable deployment of virtual machines,” adds Epstein. “Our infrastructure also assures of backup and disaster recovery for additional peace of mind.”
The Teraco move has also given Network Platforms the ability to leverage off services provided by other Teraco tenants and thereby increase its own offerings and redundancies. This has allowed for Network Platforms to enhance and develop its services and ensure clients have access to the advanced, secure and dynamic solutions.
“We understand the challenges that managed service providers are facing with regards to the uptake of cloud services,” concludes Epstein. “This has inspired us to develop a reseller model that’s designed to address these challenges and hands them the tools they need to thrive in this demanding environment.”
