Huawei, a leading global ICT solutions provider, and IHS Towers (IHS), the largest mobile telecommunications infrastructure provider in Africa, Europe and the Middle East, were awarded TowerXchange’s 2016 Green Initiative Award at the Middle East & Africa (MEA) Tower Summit Meeting held in South Africa.
The award bestows recognition for the continuous innovative development and significant contribution to energy efficiency improvement, carbon emission reduction and operating expense (OPEX) saving which ensures long-term sustainability within the ICT industry.
The award suggests that Huawei’s green telecom energy solutions and products, which are focused on customer and social value have achieved a remarkable reputation in the tower industry.
Affected by the economic slowdown and underdeveloped infrastructure, tower companies in MEA spend an enormous amount on energy acquisition and Operation & Maintenance (O&M). Measures on how to reduce this amount has been an increasing concern for tower companies and telecom operators globally.
Huawei is one of IHS’ suppliers and has helped IHS deploy hybrid green energy solutions over the past two years, bringing modern energy saving technology to Africa. When compared to the traditional Diesel Generator (D.G.) solution, Huawei green solutions are capable of cutting down fuel cost, reducing O&M expenses and carbon dioxide emissions in regions without reliable mains or with no mains.
As a leading ICT solution provider, Huawei is committed to sustainable green energy solutions, to promote a more reliable, more efficient, and a more environmentally conscious ICT industry.
