Ford has come out as the top player in the self-driving car market.
A new Navigant Research Leaderboard Report examined the strategy and execution of 18 leading companies developing automated driving systems.
The companies were rated on 10 criteria: vision; go-to market strategy; partners; production strategy; technology; sales, marketing, and distribution; product capability; product quality and reliability; product portfolio; and staying power.
The top 10 vendors are, in order: Ford; GM; Renault-Nissan Alliance; Daimler; Volkswagen Group; BMW; Waymo; Volvo/Autoliv/Zenuity; Delphi; and Hyundai Motor Group.
Navigant points out that automated vehicles are quickly nearing a level of maturity that will enable initial deployments for consumers.
