Police are asking the man who posted the murder of an elderly man on Facebook on Sunday to turn himself in.
The man is believed to be Steve Stephens from Cleveland, Ohio, who claimed to be angry with a woman when he shot and killed a passerby – and posted the murder on Facebook.
The victim was a 74-year old man who has been identified as Robert Goodwin.
The video on Facebook shows Stephens getting out of his car, pointing the gun at Goodwin, who he appears to select at random, and shooting him.
Before pulling the trigger, Stephens says the name of a woman and tells Goodwin “She’s the reason that this is about to happen to you.”
Facebook has come under fire for leaving the video up for three hours before removing it.
“This is a horrific crime and we do not allow this kind of content on Facebook,” said a Facebook spokesperson. “We work hard to keep a safe environment on Facebook, and are in touch with law enforcement in emergencies when there are direct threats to physical safety.”
