Rakesh Parbhoo has been appointed as the new CEO of Westcon-Comstor Southern Africa, effective 1 August 2017.

Interim CEO Guy Whitcroft, who took up the reins a year ago after long-time MD Paul Conradie retired following a stroke, will leave the company on 31 May.

An interim management team of Andries Coetzee, Elmien du Toit, Uwe Brandkamp and Robyn Newel will take care of day-to-day business for the next two months.

Parbhoo is currently the CIO for Dimension Data Middle East and Africa. He previously headed up the group’s emerging markets division, responsible operations across Africa, excluding South Africa, and the Middle East.

He joined the Dimension Data Group in 1998 as Cisco product manager, moving on to account management, business development and innovation.

In 2006, he became the MD of Dimension Data East Africa, leading a team of over 100 people and successfully turning the business around.

Parbhoo, who was born in Ireland and grew up in South Africa, holds a BCom degree from Wits and completed a Management Development Programme through Manchester Business School.

He is married with two children.
