Datatec has finally confirmed that it is to sell its North American and Latin American Westcon-Comstor business to US distribution and logistics giant Synnex for $800-million. Synnex will also acquire 10% of the remaining Westcon International organisation for $30-million.
The US distributor also has an option to purchase an additional 10% of Westcon International for $30-million.

Datatec says the transaction provides a unique opportunity for it to partner with a leading distribution business in North America and benefit from its significant scale.

“This exciting industry-transforming opportunity to partner with a strongly-growing, well respected Fortune 500 corporation makes sense from both a supplier and customer value perspective,” says Datatec CEO, Jens Montanana. “Westcon-Comstor North America will benefit substantially from being part of a bigger business with a much larger addressable market – and so will our shareholders with our stake in Synnex.
