Anton van Heerden, executive vice-president: Africa and Middle East at Sage and a founding member of the company, is leaving after more than 20 years.

His position will be taken by Pieter Bensch, currently the local MD of HP Enterprise (HPE).

Van Heerden was one of the founding members of VIP Payroll in 1995. He served as MD of Sage VIP Payroll and HR until 2012 when he became the MD of Sage HR and Payroll, taking his current position in October 2015.

In a statement today, Sage confirmed Van Heerden’s departure.

“Anton van Heerden has decided to leave Sage. We are very grateful for his efforts leading our Africa and Middle East business and wish him all the best for the future. Anton is going to spend some time with his family while considering next opportunities.

“Kavir Kissun, the leader of our finance organisation in the region, will take over as interim MD and we will welcome Pieter Bensch, who joins Sage from HPE, as our new leader later in the year.

“We have a strong and experienced leadership team in the region and, as ever, we remain focused on serving our customers across Africa and the Middle East.”
