E-food delivery service UCOOK and social communications app WeChat have teamed up to take on the South African food market with regards to mobile commerce.
Since 2013, WeChat has made the move to South Africa, and in 2016, has partnered up with various companies like OrderIn, picup and FitKey.
Its latest addition is a partnership with UCOOK, a fast growing e-food delivery service in Cape Town.
UCOOK is a company providing fresh, gourmet food kits directly to your door. Step-by-step meal preparation instructions are provided by renowned chefs, reinvigorating the dinnertime scene with less effort and more variety.
WeChat will rapidly improve products and services that its customers can purchase from within its ecosystem. UCOOK will in turn, deliver boxes on a once-off basis, without their original subscription element, enabling customers effortless meal purchasing. Both companies see a shared increase in customer growth.
This is made possible with the WeChat wallet, which allows WeChat users a variety of safe and secure transactions or purchases using their mobile phones. Customers can top-up their wallets with a positive cash balance, send money to other users, withdraw the money from a Standard Bank ATM, and store any South African chip and pin enabled bankcard for payments directly from their account using SnapScan. Other features include buying electricity, data and airtime.
New and existing UCOOK customers buying through the UCOOK official account on WeChat will receive 50% off their first box.
