Open source technology, services and solutions specialist Obsidian Systems has announced the next Free Beer technology networking and review session on 31 August.
The session will feature senior principal consultant and data scientist at ATBM Advisory, GIBS, Manoj Chiba, a seasoned tech professional and data specialist with an extensive background in business analysis.
In addition, Red Hat’s Solution Architect Gavin McDougall will offer his perspective and insight into his Open Source personal journey from Internet Solutions to his current role as a Solutions Architect.
His topic, “2001: A Space Odyssey” will cover his progress, from his first Linux distro to his current position building platforms for large enterprises in telecommunications.
Free Beer Sessions is a trademark of Obsidian’s offering to the market and is a recognised platform for in-depth discussion among stakeholders within South Africa’s open source ecosystem.
It raises issues, identifies opportunities and tackles the topics that continue to define this growing ecosystem.
Chiba’s training, qualifications and passion for data & the intersection with technology drive his underlying philosophy for evidence-based decision-making.

Obsidian’s guest is on the faculty of the Gordon Institute of Business Science and is also a non-executive director at BioRecord Health Solutions.
